Irina was born in Ukraine and moved to England in 1995 after marrying Alan Szmelskyj. They have been married for over 25 years and have two children.

When not working, Irina enjoys playing the piano, reading, travelling, narrow boating and playing with her family and two Burmese cats.

Irina is fluent in English and Ukrainian and has a good working knowledge of Russian.
